Industry Analysis

I write industry analysis for magazines and private clients. This usually means examining technologies from a particular point of view, such as the use of wireless LANs by healthcare organizations or data warehousing for government agencies.

I analyze trends in technology and adoption, the interaction of different technologies, and optimal ways to implement technologies in a given situation. I use a number of sources of information for my analysis, including independent experts, technology vendors, implementers and users, and a variety of Web-based repositories.

Technical Writing

I write technical articles -- mainly on computer topics -- for magazines. I produce good clean copy and I know what a deadline is. Please see my list of Magazine Publications for an indication of the variety of subjects I have written on.

I have written many books on technical topics, again mainly having to do with computers. You can rely on me to produce complete books or contribute chapters to an overall project.

I also create manuals and guides for technical products for clients including EMC and IBM. These include documents for installation, configuration, operations, users, APIs, and so forth. This kind of writing requires clarity and accuracy, and I have plenty of experience. Please see my list of some Clients I have assisted.

In addition, I help technology companies create the kinds of business materials they need, including press releases, white papers, contributed articles, annual reports, booklets, brochures, and newsletters. It's tough to find people who can understand the technology and write a decent sentence. I can do both.
